The reviewed DTM Acrylic sheet lists a separate bonding-primer system for baked-on siding finishes. Its previously painted-surface guidance calls for an adhesion test after a one-week drying period.
Look for stains, checking, peeling, and physical damage. Identify dirt, debris, or contamination that must be removed. Material between the surface and the next coating can interfere with adhesion and contribute to later peeling.
New paint cannot restore the bond of a detached old layer.
Only after investigating other likely causes should widespread, gradual release at the original coating-to-wood bond be attributed to age-related failure.
If inspection finds peeling, loss of adhesion, water damage, or another failing condition, address that problem before applying these corrective coats.
